How does the AI analyze my data without seeing it? +
The Research Lab extracts only schema metadata — column names, data types, and summary statistics — and sends that to the AI model. The AI generates analysis code (Python and R) which then runs against your actual data inside isolated compute infrastructure. Your raw data never leaves your environment and is never sent to any AI provider.
Can I share results with my grant agency or supervisor? +
Yes. You can generate public analytics dashboards with a unique shareable link — no login required for viewers. For deeper access, sponsors and supervisors can be given read-only roles within your workspace to view data, results, and the code that produced them.
How does Classroom Mode prevent students from cheating? +
Classroom Mode uses a Socratic interview method — the AI asks questions, it does not provide answers. Students must explain their own work, defend their methodology, and demonstrate understanding. Each session is scored against a rubric defined by the supervisor, producing a graded transcript that serves as auditable proof of comprehension.
What file formats can I upload for analysis? +
The Research Lab accepts CSV, Excel (.xlsx), SPSS (.sav), and Stata (.dta) files. You can also build questionnaires directly on the platform using FormWeaver and analyze the collected responses without any file conversion.
Can my institution use its own AI provider keys? +
Yes. You can configure your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or Azure OpenAI API keys at the organization level. This means AI costs go directly to your institutional account. Alternatively, use platform-managed AI with transparent per-token billing.
How is my data isolated from other organizations? +
XData Studio supports three isolation tiers: shared database with strict row-level scoping, dedicated database per organization, or bring-your-own infrastructure where you control the database and storage entirely. Enterprise plans include dedicated database isolation by default.
